A 12-year old, high performance german sedan, with almost 100K miles on the clock?

What could possibly go wrong?

Do you have enough money to pay for the very-possible expensive repairs, and are you willing to have to spend this money on very-possible expensive repairs?

Listen not to the faint of heart. This was Audi’s legend before the big modern S sedans and after the RS2. One of these comes up you buy it, don’t look at the repair costs and maybe sell it at a net loss or break even.

I’d almost guarantee that you run at least $10K within a couple years in maint/repairs. I spent an embarrasing amount keeping a B5 S4 on the road over 4 years, this is just more complicated than that

Kinja'd!!! ColoradoTaco > Cherry_man1
10/29/2015 at 13:16

Kinja'd!!!1

Probably not many, torx bits were the only thing that I didn’t have right off when needed. The issue is space mostly, see how that engine bay zero room to work? You have remove a lot of body work to get stuff done. Bigger items, like the turbos, will need to have the engine and pulled to even see them

Bad idea. These things are a nightmare to work on and 98k miles means it’s almost due to have the nose pulled off for a timing belt.

Great idea when they work. “Fuck this” when they don’t. Ultimately the power gets a bit boring honestly. Loved AMG cars for a month or two, then they got boring or at the least not involving. Preferring my E39 M5 now for those reasons.

Depends on you.

The recommended interval for timing belt changes is 35,000 miles. They’re needy cars.

Automatic? Who gives a fuck. Still cool. NP.
