A 12-year old, high performance german sedan, with almost 100K miles on the clock?
What could possibly go wrong?

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

That’s not the right motor.

Do you have enough money to pay for the very-possible expensive repairs, and are you willing to have to spend this money on very-possible expensive repairs?
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:01 |

My S4 is older with 22ok. I say do it.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:03 |

Because?

About how much would repairs run at a shop and how much are the parts?
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:03 |

Nothing.

it only came with a auto and it’s no slouch.

Nothing, I know from experience.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:09 |

Friend of mine has one that dyno’d at 400hp and 500ft/lbs at the wheels with just an added tune and exhaust. Def no slouch
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:09 |

Listen not to the faint of heart. This was Audi’s legend before the big modern S sedans and after the RS2. One of these comes up you buy it, don’t look at the repair costs and maybe sell it at a net loss or break even.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:10 |

It’s got more torque then my coyote mustang o.o;
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:11 |

I’d almost guarantee that you run at least $10K within a couple years in maint/repairs. I spent an embarrasing amount keeping a B5 S4 on the road over 4 years, this is just more complicated than that
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:12 |
|
I know it’s a monster. it’s just is it worth the miles?
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:13 |
|
How many special tools do you need?
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:16 |
|
Probably not many, torx bits were the only thing that I didn’t have right off when needed. The issue is space mostly, see how that engine bay zero room to work? You have remove a lot of body work to get stuff done. Bigger items, like the turbos, will need to have the engine and pulled to even see them

Bad idea. These things are a nightmare to work on and 98k miles means it’s almost due to have the nose pulled off for a timing belt.

Thanks for the link. Still wrong. Pictured is the 3.0L V6. 4.2 V8 only has a single cam gear per side.

I don’t know any specific numbers, I just know those numbers could very well be big.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:30 |

That’s one squeaky clean engine bay.
Which means it’s about to explode.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:31 |

That’s a good 5k over blue book. Plus it’s a 12 year old Audi.

Damn, I thought I found them all!
![]() 10/29/2015 at 13:47 |

Didn’t know that. Even in Europe?

Well here’s an oil change.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 14:11 |

Great idea when they work. “Fuck this” when they don’t. Ultimately the power gets a bit boring honestly. Loved AMG cars for a month or two, then they got boring or at the least not involving. Preferring my E39 M5 now for those reasons.

Doesn’t Audi have a 100k obsolescence switch?
![]() 10/29/2015 at 16:02 |
|
Depends on you.
The recommended interval for timing belt changes is 35,000 miles. They’re needy cars.
Automatic? Who gives a fuck. Still cool. NP.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 16:04 |

Hey, I think I found your old S4 on Craigslist a while back. Haha.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 16:57 |

I think it just had the timing belt done.
![]() 10/29/2015 at 17:53 |

Meh. You could get an E60 M5
![]() 10/29/2015 at 18:39 |

That torque number sounds awfully fishy....
![]() 10/30/2015 at 09:20 |

Ya dude been trying to sell since he bought it. I traded it in since I didn’t want to deal with it. He got it for ~$8k and he’s trying to flip it for like 12.
![]() 10/30/2015 at 09:21 |

cool, fishy or not, i saw the slip
![]() 10/30/2015 at 09:22 |

It’s still there, been listed since March
![]() 10/30/2015 at 23:33 |

Bwahah.
Sounds like a kid who’s trying to sell it. Still looks great on those flat fives though.
I’d buy it if; Lived in Denver, it was manual and if I didn’t just buy a 2.7t A6.
![]() 10/31/2015 at 02:24 |

It’s under 100k and I say this without sarcasm. ..how bad can it be?
![]() 11/02/2015 at 09:13 |

If it was a manual it would still live in my garage

4-5 year old S4 with ~400-425 hp from a tune and 3800 pounds
